Bridging Across Mass Costomization:
Resilient Habitats in the industrial area of Chongqing, China
De-industrialization has left key industrial facilities like the Chongqing Iron and Steel Works on the city's outskirts, impacting the environment and local economy. This plant symbolizes China's iron and steel industry evolution. Our approach involves repurposing such sites, moving from traditional infrastructure to ecological restoration. Addressing the site's historical soil contamination and its effects on ecology, biodiversity, and urban vitality, we propose an ecological reconstruction strategy. This involves understanding ecological dynamics, balancing the needs of plants, animals, and humans, and using parametric design for resilient, customized solutions.
