Under Bridge: Suspended Urbanism Nov 2021 - Dec 2021
An exploration of the potential of elevated space as infrastructure and the possibility of reshaping the place

As residents, office workers, and passers-by, the impression of the Dabashu area is that of an unfriendly urban monolith, the viaduct. The viaducts cut off the living area as a whole, reducing the space for people living, working or passing by to know the area. Pedestrian bridges cannot solve the problem of fragmentation. By using the linear space of Metro Line 3 running north-south, I try to integrate the fragmented space to provide public space, promote social sharing and enhance the readability of the area. By analyzing the relationship between the vertical direction and the site perimeter, three types of spatial atmospheres are divided and three types of interventions are further defined, namely, open space, semi-open space and physical space.
